Online Communications Intern | Job Description

Bossed Up’s Online Communications Intern will work directly with our CEO and Content Manager to play an integral role in shaping the online experience of Bossed Up’s community members.

We seek an innovative team member who is passionate about issues relating to gender in the workplace and ready to learn the ropes in a fast-paced online communications program.

Responsibilities include:

  • Loading, proofing, and publishing blog posts and emails using the WordPress CMS, Eventbrite, and MailChimp;
  • Working with the Content Manager to edit and schedule blog content;
  • Reviewing web metrics and improving search engine optimization (SEO);
  • Reviewing and managing guest post protocols;
  • Copywriting and collaborative editing.

Our ideal candidate has:

  • A strong belief in Bossed Up’s mission and vision;
  • Exceptional writing skills and a keen eye for copy-editing;
  • A detail-oriented and meticulous work ethic;
  • The ability to infallibly meet deadlines;
  • A respect for brevity and the craft of good storytelling;
  • Access to their own computer and familiarity with Google Apps;
  • 10 hours a week to devote to this internship remotely;
  • The willingness to learn quickly through collaborative training and management;
  • A burning desire to learn through feedback and practice.

While this internship does not require much in the way of experience, we are looking for a fast learner and responsible, communicative team player. This internship will benefit someone who is interested in writing, marketing, and online engagement.

This internship starts September 2017 and ideally runs through mid December or January.

Events Management Intern | Job Description

Here at Bossed Up we are constantly hosting transformational in-person events – it’s at the core of what we do. Our Events Management intern will work directly with our Events Coordinator and CEO to play an integral role in shaping the experiences of Bossed Up’s community members.

We seek a team member who is passionate about issues relating to gender in the workplace and ready to roll up their sleeves and dive into building incredible events. We encourage our interns to bring fresh ideas that enhance the experience of current participants or ideas to create a new event altogether.

Responsibilities include:

  • Logistics management – including site visits and managing vendors;
  • Research and outreach to prospective event sponsors and partners;
  • Helping to shape the overall look and feel of events;
  • Providing real-time event support.

Our ideal candidate has:

  • A strong belief in Bossed Up’s mission and vision;
  • A passion for and drive to learn more about event management;
  • Excellent email and phone communication skills;
  • Access to their own computer and familiarity with Google Apps;
  • A respect for the detail-oriented, meticulous work;
  • The ability to meet deadlines;
  • 5-10 hours a week to devote to this internship – virtually or in person in DC;
  • The willingness to learn quickly through collaborative training and management.

While this internship does not require much in the way of experience, we are looking for a fast learner and reliable, communicative team player. Most importantly, the candidate should be flexible and willing to take on multiple tasks in a startup environment. This internship will benefit someone interested in organizing, event management, and throwing one helluva party.

This internship starts September 2017 and ideally runs through mid December or January.
