How to #AskForMore Like A Boss
Unfortunately, it’s 2018 and the gender wage gap is STILL a thing. We women are still not earning equal pay for equal work here in the USA and in many nations across the globe.
But instead of drowning our sorrows in #ChardonnayForEqualPay this year (or perhaps in addition to doing so…) we’re celebrating the boss women in our community who’ve done their part to make sure they’re earning all they’re worth!
Read on to find some serious negotiation inspiration from the stories of these real-life Bossed Up Bootcamp alums who tackled their salary conversations like a boss:
“I was tasked with coordinating and coaching about 50 members of our team, including special education teachers who I was spending hours developing as leaders and teachers. It was then, looking at all that data, that I realized I was being paid the same or less than those folks I’d been coordinating.” – Candace
“Anything worth doing is worth doing well.” – Gray
“The woman on the other end of the line said that it was highly unlikely to happen but that she would see what they could do.” – Rachel
“I was even able to successfully negotiate a higher starting salary by remembering how to be assertive – while not aggressive.” – Kerriann
“This approach felt like more of a conversation than an interview. It helped me focus on exploring what I was interested in and really allowed me to be myself.” – Jessica
“You’re not really negotiating unless you can walk away.” – Dallas
“On a recent business project, I found the courage to negotiate and ask for more money because I knew that I was worth more.” – Jasmine
